CKP has been awarded 5 Hermes Creative Awards and 4 Honorable Mentions at the 15th Annual Creative Competition administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The 2021 competition honors marketers big and small—from one-person operations to media conglomerates—for the creative industry’s most impressive and innovative publications, branding collateral, websites, videos, as well as advertising, marketing, and communications strategies.
While it may be CKP that earns the recognition, the ultimate winners are our clients who trust us to tell the story of their brands, and in this case that includes Red Bull, McDonald’s Houston, Justice Forward and an energy client. The winners appear below.
“Slab Santa” Public Relations Campaign for Red Bull (Gold Award)
The campaign promoted Houston hip-hop Legend Paul Wall’s latest album, Subculture, and his Red Bull Studio Session. Pegged to the holidays, Wall spread cheer through “surprise and delight” visits to small businesses, dressed as “Slab Santa,” rolling up in his famous sleigh-red slab and delivering Red Bull and Subculture-themed gifts. We positioned the activation as a feel-good, one-of-a-kind opportunity to generate coverage of Paul Wall, the album and Red Bull. CKP’s campaign leveraged video and social media to amplify traditional tactics, generating 22+ placements, 57+ million impressions and $704,000+ in publicity value.
Feeding Kids and Families with Kids’ Meals PR Strategic Programs: Corporate Social Responsibility (Platinum Award)
Kids’ Meals is a Houston-based organization that prepares and delivers free meals to food-insecure children. In March 2020 as a result of COVID-19, the demand for daily distribution more than doubled overnight while resources were greatly reduced. Recognizing Kids’ Meals immediate and increased need, CKP client McDonald’s Houston acted quickly, donating thousands of cases of food, organizing volunteer hours and working with Kids’ Meals to build awareness through a robust external communications plan—earning more than 2.34 million impressions.
Sustainability Report for an Energy Client (Two Gold Awards)
As a leader in the refining and fuel distribution space, our client had built a robust and successful corporate social responsibility program, but multiple barriers prevented the organization from sharing these successful initiatives with not only its leadership and company employees but also with community partners, customers and policymakers. Communicating these effective corporate social programs through publication was necessary to bridge this information gap. CKP led communications and engagement with leaders throughout the organization to produce complex and engaging corporate social responsibility publications and communications tools to inform and influence both internal and external audiences.
Integrated Marketing Campaign for Justice Forward’s Brand Refresh (Platinum Award)
After completing a brand refresh project for Justice Forward that aligned with the organization’s new and expanded mission, CKP worked with the new entity to relaunch the brand using integrated communications. Acknowledging the nonprofit’s limited financial resources, the plan leveraged the power of traditional media relations tactics and amplified storytelling through paid and organic social media. The social media campaign did just that, garnering a 15% increase in social followers, with engagements and click-through rates that surpassed industry benchmarks. Our media relations campaign was similarly successful, garnering over 10.924 million impressions.
CKP also received Honorable Mentions for work on HIV advocacy communications for client AIDS Foundation Houston and educational materials that demystified eminent domain policy for client Coalition for Critical Infrastructure, through our relationship with CenterPoint Energy.
