Bringing more cheer this year: CKP’s Days of Giving returns

At CKP, we’re passionate about giving back. Whether we’re volunteering at local charities like the Houston Food Bank or supporting clients like McDonald’s Houston in their efforts to make a difference in our local communities, investing in our community is core to our business. This holiday season, we invite you to join us in supporting 13 local non-profits that the CKP team believes make a difference throughout Texas.

CHR is key to building strong communities through ongoing education and dialogue designed to put an end to racism. Since 1989, this Houston group has worked throughout the Greater Houston region to reduce prejudice and promote transformation.

The organization conducts workshops with the goal of opening up a dialogue—one of the most powerful tools to fight prejudice—and bringing positivity and empowerment to every race.”

Girls Inc. is all about empowering young women through incredible programming. They believe that all girls have the right to be themselves, resist gender stereotypes and express themselves. Primarily serving girls from kindergarten through freshman year of college, in 2017 they included over 10,000 young women in their comprehensive impact programs.

CKP Account Manager Chelsey Graham says: “I’ve seen first-hand the positive impact one person can have on a girl’s life. The mission of Girls Inc. of Tarrant County is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Their unique combination of life-changing mentoring relationships, a pro-girl culture, and research-based programming equips girls to be healthy, educated, and empowered.”

Texas is home to an incredible diverse wildlife population who sometimes need our help. Friends of Texas Wildlife does just that by support the rehabilitation of native species while advocating for healthy co-existence with programming for Texans.

Randy Lakey says: “I’m really passionate about animals, and this is a great group that will come to you if you find an injured animal, take it back to their center, provide veterinary care and nurse it back to health, and then release it back into the wild.”

Houston’s status as a cultural melting pot is one of its greatest assets, that’s why the work The Alliance does is so important. The Alliance works to ensure refugees. immigrants and underserved residents all have access to opportunities to improve their quality of life in Houston.

CKP Creative Director Sarah Nielsen says: “The Alliance has been providing essential refugee services as hundreds of Afghan families arrived in Houston this year—by 2022 Houston could welcome as many as 6,000 of those fleeing the Taliban. We can welcome them and support their safe resettlement by donating or purchasing items from The Alliance’s Amazon wishlist.”

Serving as a vocational community for adults with disabilities to thrive in, Brookwood in Georgetown provides empowers adults with special needs a sense of belonging and an opportunity to grow.

CKP Account Manager Julia Davis says: “Georgetown’s Brookwood is a haven for adults with disabilities. Adults with special needs are artisans, bakers and gardeners and their creations are sold in their gift shop, cafe and online. Austin locals can stop by the BIG Shop to buy handcrafted pottery and other gifts or eat in the BIG Cafe (I recommend the bacon and cheddar quiche), or anyone can shop their online store.”

RedCollar Rescue is a last resort for animals who were abandoned or left to die on the streets. An all-volunteer organization, this group connects abused animals with their forever homes—ensuring they get the love and care they deserve.

CKP Founder and CEO Carey Kirkpatrick says: “I’ve watched over the years as Charlotte and Red Collar Rescue have rescued animals suffering life-threatening injuries due to neglect, abuse or freak accidents, nursing and fostering these animals and reintroducing them to loving homes. Red Collar Rescue and Charlotte are tireless advocates for animals, dogs in particular, who have suffered abuse and neglect.”

With over 160-acres of park, the Buffalo Bayou Partnership provides Houstonians with access to green space throughout the city—offering respite under the sun during the social isolation necessitated over the past two years.

CKP Principal Jeremy Little says: “The walking trails throughout the 160-acre Buffalo Bayou Park have been a longtime favorite of mine, especially during the COVID lockdowns of 2020; giving to the Buffalo Bayou Partnership supports the trails and the moments of zen that they offer.”

This nonprofit organization focuses on promoting awareness, education and empowerment of TQLGB+ communities of color throughout Houston.

CKP Content Specialist Christos Patelis says: “The Mahogany Project fights against the stigma, injustice and isolation faced by many TQLGB+ people of color through education and community programming. They provide essential services ensuring that Houston is a city for everyone.”

MCAS is dedicated to helping animals in the Greater Houston region. As a no-kill shelter, they’re devoted to providing human, high quality care to animals before they find their forever home.

CKP Manager of Brand Presence Craig Cavanaugh says: “I adopted my cat from this no-kill animal shelter, and due to COVID-19, they are in dire need of resources and forever homes for their pets.”

With over 75,000 clients served across 15 different programs, FitMix communities is dedicated to enriching peoples’ lives through joy, health and fitness.

During the pandemic, they successfully provide all these services virtually to continue to bring people together.”

Connecting underserved communities to vital resources, Catholic Charities of Dallas tackles the root causes of poverty, hunger and homeless through education and empowerment.

Providing crucial support to the LGBTQ+ community in Houston, the Montrose Center has been an integral part of the city for over 40 years.

CKP Account Manager Vanessa Ramirez-Sparrow says: “The Montrose Center has been an essential part of Houston since 1978 and has grown into one of the nation’s largest and most comprehensive LGBTQ centers. They help the most vulnerable members of the Houston community, including seniors, homeless youth, those struggling due to COVID, and individuals who’ve recently survived domestic violence, sexual assault, or hate crimes.”
